When I was little my mother told me that if I said "excuse me" after I farted it wouldn't smell. I believed her and I still sometimes catch myself saying excuse me after farting hoping that no one will notice the smell.
A childhood belief about farting

others believed things like this

- If I had bad gas I would sometimes start to run as I farted to escape the smell. It didn't always work.— Sammy
- My favorite excuse:
Must be those trouser geese again!— Tootie Fruity - I used to believe that I could smell when it was going to snow.
(I still can!)— sw - Skunks smell bad because they eat garbage.— Isabel
- I used to believe that hairspray was made of grapes! =) Does't it smell grapey to you? XD— Jaime
