When I was about 5, this sudden notion came over me that when I flushed, the toilet was going to overflow, so I would therefore have to go and ask someone (usually my mom and dad) if it was okay to flush the toilet.
I think this came from one time when the neighbor girl was over, and she would use unusually large wads of toilet paper even when she peed. One of her wads probably plugged up the toilet and it overflowed.
