My family moved when I was about 7, and I started at a new school. At first, all the people in my new class looked like people at my old school. For a little bit I was convinced that they were doubles (or close to it, there were some differences), and, in each town, there was an "equivalent" (I probably didn't use that word back then) for each person. I never told anyone. I never found my equivalent (and I still live in this same town, 12 years later). Maybe if another "you" moves to town, you get notified and have to move.
Now that I think about it, going from preschool into kindergarten, I think there were a few doubles there (that definitely weren't the ones from preschool!)
