My mother and I have dark hair. When my sister was a toddler she had blonde hair. At this same time, my father was starting to go grey so he had salt-and-pepper hair.
My hairbrush and my mother's hairbrush had standard plastic bristles, which were black in colour. My sister had a baby hairbrush with pale bristles, and my father had a boar bristle hairbrush with some dark and some light bristles.
As a result, I thought that everyone had to have a hairbrush with bristles the same colour as their hair.
