At my house, whenever the furnace kicked on, it would make a really loud noise. When I was little I used to believe that if i was in the hall right next to it when it went on, ghosts or demons would come out. I remeber once screaming in terror because it came on when i was in the hall. I always made sure it sounded before i went to the bathroom or anything.
