My mom (in what I guess was an attempt to keep me from draining hot water) told me that sinks we not equipped enough to handle boiling hot water and that if i poured boiling hot water down the drain it would explode. TO THIS DAY i cannot pour hot water down the drain without first diluting it with cold water!
