When I was little, I believed that mushrooms were actually the ears of little tiny miniature elephants that were about two or three inches tall. Yes, this sounds silly, but bear in mind that at the TIME, I'd only ever seen cooked, sliced mushrooms, and they looked elephant-ish to me, so I put two and two together, lol.
