My parents were from a foreign country. Every time my dad would get mad, he'd let loose with a string of swear words in his native language. Then, when I'd hear an opera where they were screaming or singing loudly, I thought that they were also swearing.
A childhood belief about swearing

others believed things like this

- Soap Opera's are Soaps that sing Opera to you while you take a bath. Right???— Kid 1990
- I used to think that foreign people coughed and sneezed in a different language.— Even more stupid
- I used to believe, that I am able to speak every foreign language only by learning "their" alphabet.— matej
- I would speak in gidderish, convinced that it was some foreign language I had never heard of— Molly
