When I was about 7 my older sister (13) had one of those little tiny flies go in her ear and she couldn't get it out. My Mom took her to the hospital and when they came back they told me that the doctor took a hose and sprayed water in her ear and the fly came out the other ear.
I not only believed this but I told people this ACTUALLY HAPPENED until I was 12 or so. I didn't get that it was a joke until even later.
