I had the same fear of toilets that (apparently) many people had; that is, I thought they were an embodiment of evil.
But I have an excuse. When I was about four, I had this really painful ear infection; thus, my ears were really sensitive, and everything sounded like it was about 5 times louder than it should be. Cue me using a toilet on an airplane for the first time. Now, for those of you who haven't flown on an airplane, when the toilet flushes, it creates suction to get rid of the... matter. Otherwise, if there's turbulence... well, you do the math. However, this suction makes a rather loud noise; to my sensitive ears, it felt like my head was going to explode. Thus my irrational fear of AIRPLANE toilets; I'm cool with the normal kind.
To this day, I make sure to wash my hands, unlock the door, etc., so I can come bursting out of the door the moment I flush the toilet.
