A childhood belief about fear of

I used to believe that a monster lived in our plumbing, under the bathroom, and ate everything that went down the drains. Sometimes the plumbing would make a sound that sounded like a burp when the bathtub was draining, and I thought it was the monster burping. I thought that if I flushed the toilet when I was still on it, it would reach through the drain and grab me. Even when I was old enough to know better, I still flushed the toilet with my foot from across the room (and then darted out the door) well into adolescence.
