When I was an infant, I got stung by a mosquito on the ear, and to this day I have a lump of scar tissue the size of a pea in my right earlobe. I thought that everyone had lumps in their ears, and when I was about 7 I felt my left ear and was shocked to discover that the lump had somehow disappeared! My mom straightened me out.
