When I was little and when I went to the doctors he used to check my ears (as usual) but he used to say that he could see onions and potatoes growing in them. After we'd leave i'd continuously ask my Mum if she could see anything growing. I actually still see my pediatrician (now 21 y/o) and he still try's to pull the same "funny" joke.
