I have a very, very vague memory of the Lawrence Welk show. I don't really recall what it actually was, but I do know that part of it (the opening, maybe?) involved bubbles, and that there were people playing music - for years, I believed that this was what people were referring to with "soap opera".
A childhood belief about tv shows

others believed things like this

- I used to think the TV show "The Sopranos" was about opera singers.— Innocent Kid
- when I was little my uncle told me he was part bear. I believed people could be part bear until I was twelve. — Audrey
- I thought that psychological torture involved forcing people to watch really sad movies!— Elviessa
- When I was a child I used to believe that stand up pianos actually told jokes as well as playing music.— L MAN
