I remember once as a child thinking there was something wrong with me because my stomach would rise when I breathed in, and fall when I breathed out. I thought it was supposed to be the other way round, and used to spend time trying to "reverse" my faulty breathing.
I've just realised why I thought this - when squeezing into a tight place or clothing, people say "breathe in!"... surely it should be "breathe out"?
A childhood belief about i'm different

others believed things like this
- i used to believe that if you swallowed gum, when you breathed in, your stomach would stick to your back— cope
- I thought everyone only had a set number of breaths before they died.
I breathed slowly for a long time.Anon - I used to think farts were air you had breathed in and out loads of times and was 'used'Anon
- I still hold my breath when I pass by cemetaries because it is impolite to breathe when other people can't.— Crystal
- I used to believe that if I pumped in my sleep and breathed it in I would turn into a rotting turnip!— Quako
- i used to belive that children had to be taught how to breathe.— Dave
