I used to think that the words to The Wombles theme tune went:
"Wombles of Wimbledon,
Common are we"
As in "We are common."
A childhood belief about misheard lyrics
others believed things like this
- "The wombles of Wimbledon Common are we" meant that there were loads of them...— Mike
- I used to believe there were loads of Wombles, until about a minute ago...— Nat
- It was common "knowledge" where I lived that if you picked dandelions then you would wet the bed.— Holly
- A common misheard lyric in BMTH’s ‘Shadow Moses’ is “THIS IS SANDPIT TURTLE!”— Oli
- I thought common as muck was a substance called commoners muck— oddsox
- I usde to believe that 'camembert cheese' was actually 'common bear cheese'.— Dan
