When I was young I thought the chorus of Paul Young's 'Everytime You Go Away' went:
Everytime you go away,
You take a piece of meat with you
(actual lyric 'You take a piece of me with you')
I used to think that while it was very odd that his girlfriend would take meat with her whenever she went away I still couldn't understand why it upset him so much. I figured when I was older I would understand
A childhood belief about misheard lyrics

others believed things like this
- I used to hear "Everytime you go away, you take a piece of Meat with you"
Makes a nice light snack I spose.— Linda - That at meetings adults sat on plastic chairs surrounding a large piece of meatAnon
- When you are very poor you "can't make end's meat." End's meat is some sort of cheap very low quality meat.— Betty
- When I was six my sister told me Meat Pies were made from mashed up rats...to this day I can't eat a Meat Pie.— Jamie
