I've started to sing in English well before I actually learned to understand it, so here go some of the things I found out a few years too late:
- In Bachman-Turner Overdrive's "Hey You" it's
"You should have tried now, oooh"
and not
"You shouldn't drive now, oooh"
- In Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" it's
"So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
Blue skies from pain" and not "paint" =)
and
"Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?", not "vein"
- Whitesnake's "Full For the Night" was only ever "Fool For Your Love"
- From Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah":
"The baffled king composing Hallelujah", well, I never did believe "the baffled kiss" made sense anyway.
A childhood belief about misheard lyrics

others believed things like this
- I used to believe that if you mixed red, blue, green, and yellow paint you'd get plaid!— Judith Ann
- Pink Floyd- Brick Wall.
I used to believe it was "we don't need no fart control" in the second line there.— Norwegian Dude From Kopervik - I used to think the line in Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall was "No dogs allowed in the classroom."— Gretchen
- I used to believe that when the sky was pink, late at the afternoon, the angels made cookies!— Bella
- I used to believe that if you kiss a frog then the would would really turn into a king.— jing
- steel wool comes from steel sheep— tg
