I used to believe that people's teeth were like shark's teeth; that they just kept a new set available for when the next ones fell out or were pulled, the next tooth would grow into the space left, ad infinitum. I thought that the tooth fairy would really give me a lot of money when my adult incisors came out, because they were so big when compared to the others. I was quite upset when I found out that the second set was all you could get, and when they fell out, it was time for dentures. (I didn't want any of those, because my grandmother said hers hurt all the time.)
