A childhood belief about periods

I used to believe Tampons were the shape of a arrow! My older sister told me, horrified one day, that instead of those pads mum uses, our aunt used tampons! After asking, with wide eyes, what they were, she described them as arrows you had to put in yourself!
For a good few years I couldn't figure out why my aunt would do that!
