They never really did a good job of explaining the Pledge of Allegiance to us preschoolers. For a good many years, I thought that the line "liberty and justice for all" was suggesting that we all get a steaming cup of Liber Tea, whatever THAT is. With a side of justice.
A childhood belief about the pledge

others believed things like this
- I used to think it was a coincidence that judges all had the first name "Justice".— Katz
- I used to believe that all the first names of judges was Justice till I was doing my 4th high school year.— Tafadzwa
- I used to believe that the "Pledge" of Allegiance had something to do with our "Pledge" cleaner. — Pledge
- I thought the Pledge of Allegiance was "to the United Steaks of America," and that we were saying it to cows.— bessy
- Through second grade I always concluded the pledge with '...indivisible, with liberty and just a straw.'— George
- Would you believe liver, tea, and justice for all? Tea I could take, but liver? Ewg!— Texas granny
