A childhood belief about around the house

When I was younger, I was told that all nuts and bolts are "righty tighty, lefty loosey." In other words, turn to the right, they will tighten, turn to the left, they will loosen.
Well one day I finally met my match, I spent hours trying to loosen some bolts on an old truck my dad had just bought, needless to say, later my uncle told me that the bolts were "ass backwards". Righty loosey, and lefty tighty.
To this day my nickname is still: Righty tighty.
