I was over at my friend's house when I was about 4, and her folks were watching something about Elvis on TV. I didn't know who he was as my folks were more Rolling Stones/Beatles/Dylan fans.
My friend was a whole 6 mos older than me, and thought she knew everything. So she she started telling me all about him, and I swear she told me that he died from drinking too much grape juice.
It put me off drinking grape juice for many years, much to the puzzlement of my mom.
And I don't remember this too well, but my parents tell me I came home that day and did a wicked Elvis impersonation - You Ain't Nothin' But a Hound Dog - complete with the hip/leg thing. I don't know, since I don't remember (or have repressed it, lol). It is a mystery.
For the record, as a grown-up, I am not a particular fan of Elvis, but I don't dislike him either.
