I never liked kids TV shows, so I watched grown up TV on grown up channels. During commercials there would sometimes be movie previews and the announcer would always say "rated R" very fast, so I thought it was one word, "ratedar," and I always wondered what it meant.
A childhood belief about tv

others believed things like this
- I thought grown ups were born grown ups.— mea
- ‘Unadulterated’ meant that something wasn’t rated 18+ and was therefore safe for kids— Evie
- I used to believe that grown-ups were born "grown up" and that I would stay a little kid forever.— Still A Kid
- I used to think grown ups couldn't lie...especially not to kids.— Jessica
- I used to believe that grown-ups were born grown up.— Juleen
- whenever the tv announcer said "brought to you", I thought it was one word - "brotue".Anon
