For whatever reason, when I was young, it was usual for us at my house to get a Christmas tree a little too tall to fit in the living room. So my father would cut off a bit of the top to make it fit. For years, I thought that was what was meant by "trimming" the Christmas tree.
A childhood belief about around the house

others believed things like this
- I used to think that partridge in a pear tree was "cartridge" in a pear tree(christmas song)— Erica
- We didn't have a chimney in our house. Father Christmas had to come in through the letter box.— Ginnean
- When I was five, I believed God was big as a tree, a tree being the biggest thing I could convieve of.
— Chris - I was told that for every christmas carol i sang before christmas time santa would give me one less present!— K
- I used to believe that the Doller Tree store was an actual tree.Anon
- Do you really mean to tell me that father Christmas is a myth?
