In honor of my late uncle I'd like to post this belief.
When I was around 5 my uncle slammed his thumb in the car door and it cracked so he had to go to the emergency room to get it removed. He was gone for hours and when I asked him what took so long he said that your fingernails and toenails are connected so the had to pull his toenail out too. I really thought they pulled his toenail out through his finger, and believed that toenails and fingernails were connected until I was 20.
