I used to believe that fluorescent strip lights were bad and scary. When I went into the bathroom I would close my eyes and switch it on. I'd have to wait for it to stop flickering before I could open my eyes otherwise something really bad would happen. I'm not sure what bad thing. I guess I was just really scared. My local town hall had huge lights I was scared of too...
