I used to believe…

When I was about 10 or so I used to believe you only got to move you arms and legs a certain number of times in your entire life. Like maybe you would only be allowed to move your right arm 768 and then it gets frozen. For a while I was very afraid that one say I would just be completely frozen because I moved around too much.

I used to believe…

when my cousin was about six we went out to dinner. a discussion came up about going out for ice cream afterwards. she had been making a big deal about how full she was so she wouldn't have to eat. when she heard that we might get ice cream, she proceeded to announce "well mommy, my dinner side is full, but my dessert side isn't"

I had problems with nightmares when I was younger and everynight I would repeat "There's no such thing" over and over again hoping that I could convince myself. But I guess my sister who slep in the bottom bunk got aggrivated with my muttering at night and told me that it was no use. That I was too smart for my own good, that I knew the truth. That there was such a thing. And my sister was always so mean that I thought if she was actually calling me smart that she must be telling the truth. I don't think I had a nightmare-less night for a month. I was terrified to sleep. I never really connected the dots that when I used to mutter to myself - it actually did work.

I used to think that your ass crack was the same as your anus and that when doing a poo you could never be sure *exactly* where it would come out.

Luckily for me, it always came ot of the bottom. Phew!

I used to believe…

When I was a kid my mother had a necklace that had black/ smokey quartz stone as a pendent and when you held it to your eye you could see light and shadows enhanced. I believed that if you looked through my mothers necklace then you could see all the evil in the world and that it was the only time that the evil couldn't see you.

I used to believe…

My Dad spent several years really scared of sneezing and farting at the same time because he thought the pressure at both ends would rip you open like a Christmas cracker!

I used to believe that if i pushed against my eyeball in a certain way, i'd be able to see "white" ghosts.

I did this for a while before i realised that oddly enough, the "ghosts" would move in the direction i was looking whenever i turned my head.

i used to belive that once you had eaten somthing that it wold shrink to a really small mini version of that food and be stacked up in your tummy reaching all the way up to your mouth until you was sick,

I used to believe that if i didn't take a crap fast enough, the toilet would overflow. I always thought this beacause my sister would always overflow the toilet!

I used to believe…

One day we were driving by our city's sewage treatment plant, and my father referred to it as the "perfume factory." For years after that, I really thought perfume was made out of sewage.

I used to believe…

when i was little, i thought that if i swallowed something the wrong way it wouldn't go in to my stomache but it would go into my arms or legs or something.

I used to believe if you only chewed food on one side of your mouth, that you would only grow on that side of your body. So, I had to chew evenly on both sides ...

I used to believe that an amputated limb would grow back. I remember thinking that it must be a very slow process when I overheard that a friend of my parents who only had one foot had lost it several years before.

I used to believe…

When I was a kid, whenever I heard someone saying that they were on a diet, it was always an overweight person. So, I thought that "on a diet" was just a polite way of saying "fat". Once, my mom (who wasn't heavy) mentioned that she was on a diet. I kept arguing with her, saying, "No, you're not!".

When I was very small I used to beleive that at the moment you start to fall asleep you actually are falling "up". As if your spirit is ripped from your body every night, I would hold on to the covers for dear life and if I started to drift I would jerk myself awake.

I used to believe…
