I used to believe…

One time I was with these kids that went to my church, and I fell down and just assumed that my leg was broken. One of the little boys told me that if you would shine a light on one side of your leg, and u could see that red glow on the other, that it wasn't broken. He got this huge flashlight, and we saw the red glow, so then I knew I was ok. From then on when I would get hurt I would do the flashlight test :-)

when I was little I hated getting needles from the dentist (still hate needles) anyway, my dentist was a children's dentist, and told me that he didn't use needles. he used an instrument that massaged the gums with anasthetic called "the Blue Tickler" and so I believed him.
until I was 16
when my older sister mocked me to no end.
I had no reason to doubt him! topical anasthetics exist!
she still makes fun of me, 7 years later.
although, the very same dentist was a bald man, and my sister, when she was a child, stared up at him raptly as he described the procedure, and instead of listening, spider-walked her fingers up and across his bald pate while singing 'the itsy bitsy spider' in soft tones. My parents still call her "inky binky" (somewhere the words got changed) and it has been 20 some years for her, so I should stop complaining

When I was little, I used to think that if I sucked in really hard and held my breath, I would be as thin as paper. I loved to scare my mom back then so when she came to tuck me in I would do that under the covers. I was so upset every night when she saw me.

i thought that if you held in your fart you burp if you happen to hold both in you explode!

I used to think that I could scream at a silent pitch that only dogs could hear. I still have part of me that believes that a bit (I'm 35) because I remember doing it and dogs reacting. Funny since I now know dogs were reacting to the squeels that would slip out as I did whatever vocal thing I was doing. It's just the belief was so strong, and a powerful and cool one, that I guess I still want to believe it's possible. Life is all about what you believe!

I used to belive that I could "throw" my voice by yelling into my folded arm at the elbow. I would hide and do this and when people looked around I thought they heard my voice coming from the other direction.

I used t believe that my poop was a little family living insie my butt and they would push their children out of my butthole. I called them the Poo Poo People

I used to believe…

My mum told me that for every chicken pox spot that I scratches, another one would form on my waist. Everytime I scratched one, another one would appear, until eventually they spots would go round my waist like a belt. She then said that when they went all the way round and joined up again at the front, I would die. Never scratched one after that !

I used to believe…

When I heard my mom talking with the doctor about TB tests. I thought they said "TV test" and I was wonderingthat I would answer all the questions right about television shows.

I used to believe…

A freind of mine tld his younger sister he could teach her to fly, she believed him and after running around the back yard flaping her arms about for a while over a few days he told her he thought she was ready.

He took her to the top of the stairs and hepled her climb over the railing, then told her to flap like crazy and jump... the 4 metre drop meant she broke her arm!

About six weeks after it came out of the plaster he said she did not flap hard enough... gues what, yep you guessed it, she did the same jump and broke the other arm!

when my sister was about three and noticed her first little fart, she put her hand to her mouth and said, "whoops, my bottom burped".

When I was about five years old and in kindergarten, I went on a field trip that took a long time to drive to. I believed that if I growled like an animal, the bus would move faster, and we'd get there quickly. I have no idea why I believed that.

I used to believe that if you drank a lot of anything, and then you had to go t the bathroom, you could just eat bread or something that was absorbent, and then you wouldn't have to go cuz it would absorb "stuff" and you'd be all good

I never liked and of my food to touch on my plate when I was young. I thought that it had to be eaten separately because it would fall into a slot inside my stomach that was set aside for that one food.

being about 3rd-4th grade...i thought that mary poppins could really fly with an umbrella, and soo convinced i told my younger siblings to come on the shed roof and jump off with umbrellas with me....so we did it, we jumped off, and realized man....thank GOD we didnt jump from something higher.

For many years I believed something my sister told me. She told me that in Paris a long time ago they never put mentally ill people in mental hospitals but just threw them into the river. Hence the mentally ill were called "In Seine", and that is the origin of our word "insane"

i used to think that when you held a fart in, that that exact fart would come back exactly a year later; that's right, same time, same day, but one year later. But because this fart had been hibernating for a year it would come back as a really powerful one, that's why some of my farts were smellier or noisier than others i figured. so if i was going to hold one in i had to evaluate whether it was worth it or whether in a year's time i would be in an inconvenient situation. jeez what a freak i was, this kind of thinking can only lead to best-sellers.
