I used to believe…
No matter how often I proved to myself I couldn't fly, every time I had a dream about flying I'd be convinced it was possible all over again. There's just some simple secret thing I'd have to do first-- usually a certain way of bending a leg or kicking just right.
I must have particularly vivid flying dreams, because I still fall back into this way of thinking after nearly every one. Sometimes for a few hours after I'm up and about!

When I was little, my dad told me that if I held my breath long enough I would turn inside out. So I would hold my breath till my face was almost purple. When I let the air out, my dad would say, "You were so close, try again!"

My Mom told me when I was a kid that the more I cried the more wrinkled my face would become because of all the tears drying on my face. Then one morning as I woke up she approached me with a horrified look on her face and kept telling me to look in the mirror. Of course thinking I was now a shriveled wreck I began to cry, then realized the tears were slowly wrinkling my face even more and broke into hysterics. Eventually so did my Mom, though for her, it was hysterical laughter. She held me in front of the mirror, it was in fact April Fools Day. Love Ya Mom.

My dad always told me when I was five that if I sang while I was eating, I would eventually marry a cross-eyed person. When I saw one walking one day I approached her and said "Are you gonna marry me?" She was puzzled and just walked away.

When I was young, I heard my parents always talking about people that had quit drinking and others saying that they never drink and they hoped I would not drink either when I grew up. I was terrified because I did not want to always be thirsty. Thank goodness i finally found out that they were not being literal. By the way, I don't drink. But I am not thirsty.

When I was younger, I thought that when you farted, a little brown, smelly bubble would pop out of your butt, and then it would pop loudly. When it popped, a nasty-smelling gas would be released, and if some of the gas got on your clothing, you would smell bad forever. This resulted in: a) me looking behind myself after farting (to see the bubble) and b) me jumping as soon as I farted (so no gas got on my clothes!)

When I was little I used to wet the bed alot. My mom and grandma always told me that if I drank my milk this wouldnt happen. So I always made sure to drink all the milk I could. Needless to say I woke up very wet, cold, and crying in the middle of the night. They later made up another story about the bedwetting. One that has caused me to suck my thumb all these years.

When I was 4, i thought that if you went underwater and breathed normally, i would turn into a fish. I tried and I almost drowned. ITs sad to admit but i tried it again up until age 12 when I found out the sad truth, if you do that, you will turn into a shark!

You know how when you blink while looking at the sun and then look somewhere else you can still see the afterglow thingy? When I was little I thought I had magical powers after doing this a few times. I told my mom what I thought and she told me the real junk about my 'powers' and broke my heart. To this day I dont believe in super heros or magicians or anything like that.
I used to think I could get powers by using the Weegee board. Me and my cousins once kept on asking a spirit for some, and we got them. I was about to leave my cousins house but didn't want to. So we all three concentrated and drained oil and gas out of my mom's car. Believe it or not, it appeared she was astonishingly OUT OF OIL! So she borrowed my grandma's car. I remember this as if it were just yesterday.
