I used to believe that if you drank vinegar that your blood would dry up.
I was told that if you took medicine when you weren't really ill it would make you ill. I used to believe that the medicine would somehow know which illness you were faking and give you that illness. For example if you pretended to have a sore throat and took medicine for that, it would give you a sore throat.

When i was a child, would make vocalize at as high a pitch as i could. When i would not make any sound at all, i assumed that i was producing ultrasonic pitches and that only dogs could hear me.

When I was 7 I had a bit of a bed wetting problem so the doctor gave my parents a contraption that consisted of a foil sheet that lay under my bed sheet and a box that buzzed if the sheet got wet. Now the buzzing box probably had a battery but I thought it ran on electricity and I knew that electricity and water DID NOT mix. I was petrified that when I wet the bed I'd be electricuted. Whatever problem I had that made me a bed wetter was quickly replaced by the fear of being killed by my Buzzer in the middle of the night.
I was told that if you just let your farts out then eventually you would not be able to sop yourself farting - I was petrified, and had horrible visions of walking down the street farting uncontrolably (teriible thought)!!!!!

When I was little, if I ever hurt myself like getting a cut or a graze, my Mum used to ask "is it stinging?" and when I replied "Yes", she'd tell me that that meant "It was getting better". I believed that and would shut up as I thought that meant the pain would stop soon. I still believed it until I had a kid of my own and realised that its just a good way of getting them to stop whinging about it.

When i was young i use to think that my mum and dad had some sort of special brain power, and even when i was away from them they were able to see everything i did, here everything i'd say, and even hear everything i thought!

When my sister and I were little, our foster mother used to get us to settle down by saying, "Let's see who can get to sleep first!" We bought it, quieted down, and got busy getting to sleep.
How would we have known who won? Of course, by morning, we had forgotten the whole thing.

My children all believed , when they were young that dad ( me ) couldn't fart , because i'd had a fartectomy. We still laugh about how , whenever there was a bad smell in our house that " It can't be dad, he's had a fartectomy " was the response from the kids. My six year old grand-daughter nowadays is not quite as gullible.

I used to be told that if I didn't eat enough, my Mother knew a little boy who also didn't eat, and his stomach eventually ate him up

i once thought that if you jumped high enough in the air, you'd get stuck!
i used to beleive that when you ate food it used to fall down into your feet and carried on until it reached the top of your head, then you died, so if you were tall you lived longer than short people.

When I was about 4 years old I used to believe that light colored foods (like popcorn, mashed potatoes) were "processed" into urine (because it was light colored) and dark colored foods were "processed" into poop (because it was darker). I didn't think solids or liquids had anything to do with it, it was all based on color.
I used to believe, well kinda I might, still do a little, I'm uncertian. I once heard that if you farted in the bathtub, and were quick enough to bite the bubble and suck in it's methane contents before it popped, well then you would hallucinate. might sortof like taking LSD I supose I wasn't never quite quick enough to catch the bubble yet..
I was scared to fart outdoors in the winter when I was a kid (OK, I'm still a little self-conscious about it). When you are in the cold you can see your breath and steam comes out of your mouth. I figured the same principle applies to flatulence. How embarrassing would it be to fart outdoors in the cold and have someone see steam coming out of your butt and know that you farted?
I used to believe that I had a little old lady living in my mouth who's job it was to keep my spit flowing properly. She would haul buckets of spit up from my stomach and sloosh it around my mouth, then it would flow back down to my stomach and she had to haul it up again. I was frightened of her because I thought she would be cross with me for making her work so hard.
I USED TO BELIEVE THAT IF YOU PICKED DANDEIONS YOU WOULD WET THE BED AND THAT IF YOU SWALLOWED APPLE PIPS AN APPLE TREE WOULD GROW OUT OF YOUR B-M

WHEN I WAS YOUNG, MY FATHER RIPPED A BIG ONE AND EXCLAIMED, "OH! SOMEONE MUST BE PRAYING FOR ME. AN EVIL SPIRIT JUST LEFT MY BODY!" FROM THEN ON (FOR A LITTLE WHILE)I BELIEVED A FART WAS THE STINKY RESULT OF DIVINE INTERVENTION.

As a young child, somewhere around three to five years old, I had read many fairy tale/ nursery rhyme type tales. Whenever someone was asleep in a bed in one of these stories, the picture showed their feet uncovered, usually hanging over the edge of their bed. After reading many of these, I (usually becoming cold during winter nights) was afraid that I would grow so tall that my feet would hang over the edge of the bed. I'm not sure WHY this nagged at me; it just did.
