when i was in the cubs, our akela told us that it took about 3 or 4 days for liquid to pass through the body. i only found out that this wasn't the case when i started drinking in pubs....

When I was VERY little...about three or four...I used to think that since white people made brown poo, black people must make white poo.

as i kid (about 4 or 5) my mother asked me to assist my younger sister in going to the toilet as she was busy with some friends who had come round for coffee. Once in the bathroom, it in fact turned out little sis in fact only needed to fart. Upon returning downstairs and announcing to my mother and her highly amused friends that it wasnt a poo, but in fact 'a burp that comes out of your bottom', It took me some years before I learnt the word fart

When me and my brother were little, we used to burp a lot. My parents scared us by saying if we couldn't stop burping they woud give us "burp medicine" to stop it. My dad even put a bottle of something on the dinner table some nights. We had no idea what it was, but knew it would taste bad. So we stopped, not knowing it was just a threat, and they weren't really going to give us any. Not long after one of my mum's cousins (an adult) was having dinner with us. He burped, and me and my brother pointed out that he had to have the medicine. So he had a teaspoon of it. Several years later we learned that the medicine was glisserine.

When I was very little, we had a friend from Germany visiting at my grandma's. I went into the bathroom once and someone had forgotten to flush. The water was red, and I didn't know about periods at the time, so I used my youthful logic to conclude that German people must pee red, and went on with my life without giving it a second thought.

My mother used to tell me that when you hiccuped, you grew. I was so small that I wouldn't let my hiccups quit so I would grow bigger, and eventually my stomach hurt so badly from the hiccups that I had to go home.

My brother once told me that with German measles you broke out in swastikas, not red spots. I believed it until I did catch German measles

I used to think if I tried hard enough and truly believed, that I could have those rays of "goodness" shoot from my stomach like the Care Bears

I used to think that you "weed" and "pooed" out of the vagina... girls only had one hole (not even a urethra) and boys had 2 holes b/c they can't poop from their penis

I used to believe…

When I was still young enough to take naps (but not old enough to enjoy them), I would try anything to get out of sleeping, but my Mom always knew when I was faking. I asked her how she always knew, and she told me that when a person was really asleep, they stopped breathing. I could never hold my breath long enough to fake another nap again.

I used to believe…

My brother told me that when the doctors took out someone's tonsils, they went throiugh their ear. After that, i never told my parents when I had a sore throat, for fear of having my tonsils removed from my ear.

I used to believe…

My brother (older) used to tell me that if I stayed under water long enough that when I ran out of air in my lungs that I could breathe through my pancreas! Well, I tried one day at the public pool, while my brother held me under water. I never struggled, as I believed him as I inhaled my first lungfull of water. After I was "brought back" by the lifeguard I really believed that the only reason that I survived was that I was breathing through my pancreas. I told everybody!

This was my daughter's belief that I inspired (I am one of THOSE moms!). When she was 3-4 yrs old, we had a coffee mug that would play music if light hit the bottom of it. She was amazed at my ability to make it "sing", so I let her in on the "secret". I demonstrated how I had to hold my tongue in a particular way for it to work (while at the same time picking it up - she hadn't connected THAT part of it). She was SO excited! When her father came home, she ran up to him with the mug and with her tongue sticking out saying, "Wook Tatty! I making it THING!!" (Look Daddy! I'm making it sing!!)

Oh yeah, i ALSO used to believe (again, from watching too much Sabrina, I dream of Jeannie etc) that if i pointed my finger and just said the right words I could do spells - unfortunately I never could those right few words!

I used to believe (not too long ago) that if I stared at something for long enough and thought really hard about it I could make obkects move/fly/fall over etc -- i think i watched Matilda too many times!!

I used to believe…

As a very young child I used to think that the time I was asleep went by really quickly because in the morning when I woke up it seemed like I had just closed my eyes. I believed this so much that one night I got into bed, closed my eyes and then immediately opened them again to start my new day. I even got dressed before my parents stopped me and put me back to bed.

I thought that AIDS would mean you would turn into a crushed car cube because I was watching a TV programme and someone was upset because their mum had AIDS and then there was a crushed car cube so thought that was wot happend.

When I was very young.. probably 3, I honestly believed I could float. I thought I could jump, and instead of landing I could just leave my legs a little bent and float around instead of walking. I told my mom about it and tried to show her a bunch of times, but got mad at her when she wouldn't see it. I thought it was her fault it didn't work when she was looking because she'd look away too quickly. I also got mad at her for saying it was a good jump because it wasn't the jump I was trying to show her.

I don't remember exactly how we even started talking about it, but I discovered my boyfriend at the time thought girls peed out the 'back'. I was his second girlfriend he'd been 'intimate' with, and he was 20 years old. couldn't believe it... I told him girls aren't some weird birdlike species
