My husband believed that woman peed through their vaginas, and held onto this belief up into his 30's. When I asked him how he expected a woman to pee when she is on her period and using a tampon, he couldn't come up with an answer.

When I was little, I use to believe that the reason people stretched all the time was because if they sat too long they would shrink, so stretching was a way to get back the original size.

I'm amazed no-one's mentioned flying down the stairs! When i was young i could distinctly remember a time when i had walked (or probably crawled) out into thin air from the top step and floated or flown down to the bottom. I really believed that i had done this. Apparently it is a common childhood experience (several of my friends have 'remembered' doing it too!) Perhaps it's a memoty of being picked up and carried around as a baby?
I wish it had been true!

When I was 5 yrs old, I believed that I could fly. I had a vivid memory (still do) of flying in my bedroom. I swore this tale was the truth until I was about 14 yrs old! I finally stopped telling it though. Now I'm not sure if I stopped believeing or I got tired of defending my story *wink* I still think of this memory from time to time and smile to myself.

During the late 50's, as I began to watch T.V. and learn about reading, I saw advertisements referring to the dangers of "T.B."- I can recall thinking it couldn't be all THAT bad, since I was watching one, and the message was portrayed on one-quite a while passed before I had a clue about the difference between tuberculosis and television- as to the question of which is more dangerous, societally speaking, who can say?

I remember being sick and my mom saying, 'You have a bug.' I thought that there was an actual, singular bug making me sick and that if I sneezed or blew my nose enough it would come out and I'd be fine. When I eventually did get better, I knew I'd succeeded.

A younger student in my school and I and a teacher were talking, and the student asked the teacher if it was normal for girls to have wet dreams. We looked at her really confusedly, and told her that was not possible. She replied to us that it must be because she wakes up every day soaking wet in sweat.

When I was young, my parents referred to farts as "Tooters." Of course, this was never written down, so my concept of the spelling of the word was not quite what it was today. I was convinced it was spelled "Tudor," and when I first heard that word used to describe the style of house I was really, really confused.
