I used to believe…

When I was young I used to be terrified of throwing up. I used to make up all sorts of safety measures to keep myself from doing it, like if I laid on my back while I slept, or if I held my lips closed, or repeated over and over to myself "I feel fine..." I used to think that if anyone else threw up, I was in immenent danger of doing the same, so I'd start to shake all over and get as far away from the person as possible.

I used to believe…

When I was 4 or 5, of course I didn't understand digestion. I thought that our bodies were pretty much hollow. Throughout our lives we would eat and eat until the food level finally got up to our necks and we died. I also believed that I could drown from drinking water and lived in fear that it "would go down the wrong pipe." Needless to say, I didn't eat or drink much when I was little, afraid to fill up too soon and die, and afraid to drink and drown.

I used to believe…

When I was little I thought you had 2 holes in your throat, one for food & one for drink. Therefore when I coughed whilst eating or drinking it had "gone down the wrong hole".

Soup used to confuse me greatly!

I used to believe…

Up until I was about six, I thought that pain was transferrable. When I skinned my knee, I thought my mother could put her hand on it and feel how much it hurt to me.

I used to believe…

If you flapped your arms fast enough you cuold fly like a bird. My friends and I tested this many times from a garage roof. We were never achieved flight. I guess we couldn't flap hard enough

I used to believe I could control the weather.. the thing is everytime I wanted wind or rain or snow eerily it would happen. I still can't explain it snowing on my birthday every time I wished for it. I live in a city in the US that gets snow almost never, maybe you can explain it or maybe I really DID control the weather. Yeah right, and maybe pigs DO fly!

I used to think there were little booger factories in your nose that made boogers.

I used to believe…

When I was about 6 or 7 years old, for some reason, I believed that if I couldn't hear myself breathing I had obviously stopped breathing altogether and was liable to drop down dead at any moment. So I started breathing really loudly, really inhaling and exhaling deeply, so I could always hear myself. One night my dad was reading me a bedtime story and I was listening along, breathing really deeply. He asked me if I was alright - i sounded like I had asthma or something. I explained what I was doing and he put my mind to rest. I was a strange child...

I used to believe that if enough people would stare at a single point in, say, a brick wall for long enough, they could collectively burn a hole through that wall.

I had a cyst on my left middle finger, and believed it was my second brain. When it was cut off at age 6, I thought I would get progressively more and more stupid.

I used to believe…

when i was 5 i have discovered that my cousin (a so smart 10 y/o girl) was using diapers at night due her bedwetting problems.
she was so brave, with so good scores at school, and so loved that i've started to wet the bed at own beccause i was beliving that have a diaper on was the reason of such success .
nothing of more wrong....

I used to think that tampons were meant to absorb women's urine so they wouldn't have to go to the bathroom.

I used to believe…

When I was little, I thought that the only reason anyone ever went to the doctor was to get a duck sticker at the end, duck stickers being what my particular doctor happened to give to child patients. Of course, when my grandma said she had to go to doctor, I begged for her duck sticker.

i used to think that there were little men (they kinda looked like lawn gnomes) who lived inside your stomach and controlled some of your bodily funcions.

it was a very dark habitat (i can still picture it to-day) and there was a big golden river. this river was your pee. and the gnomes would put your poo into canons, and that was how you pooped. but they weren't very smart, so sometimes they fired the canon without loading it... that's why you farted. and that's why people were teased for farting a lot, cuz they had really stupid gnomes.

I used to believe…

One day, my friend and I were playing in the woods behind his house. As I was running around, I cut my knee on a thorn bush, so we both looked at the wound (it was nothing big). My friend told me that I MUST NOT let a bee sting me on the cut or else I would get diabetes. I believed him, but my mom quickly corrected me when I told her about it.

i got told that when you pooed and weed at the same time in the toilet (madness i tell you!) that it would form a "purplish bogey".

I used to believe that on my 13th birthday I would recieve all kinds of special powers. When I didn't get them, I was pretty disappointed.

I used to beleive that all pains were headaches. So for example, I had headaches in my stomach, legs and arms.

I used to believe that parents were magic and had special powers.
My parents told my brother and I that they could see green smoke coming from our bottoms, thats how they knew we had farted! It didnt occur to me that they might have actually used thier noses!!

I used to believe that Winnie the Pooh was a turd. My Mother used to read the books to me and I was not exposed to the Disney version of the stories when I was young. I guess I must have confused "Pooh" with "poo".
