My mom told me and my brother that if we sniffed instead of blow our noses that our heads would explode. I believed it for a long time and would always freak out when my friends would sniff. I was so scared they're heads would explode

My uncle likes to dry his body with a hair dryer. When he was little, my cousin thought that was what hair dryers were for until he saw his mom using one.

When I was about 3 I got confused as to where food went. I thought my right arms would fill with apples, my left leg with peaches, and I had no clue what would happen when I ran out of room.

I used to believe…

When I had just started going to school I thought that if someone forgot to flush the toilet at school, the teachers would take a sample of the pee and make the older kids process it for DNA in the chemistry labs. Then they would report you to the headmaster, who in turn would report you to the (fictional) Criminal Failures in Hygiene Department. The CFHD would then ship you off to a sterile facility with other such offenders until you had perfect hygiene and manners! I was a paranoid but clean child...

I used to believe that when you ate food, it would go onto a really long conveyor belt and there would be these little people (like the worker guys in Fraggle Rock) that would have little hammers and would pound the food into tiny pieces as it would go along the conveyor belt.

I used to believe…

When I was little my mom used to give me gatorade when I had stomach aches. It would stay in the fridge until I had a stomach ache, nobody would ever drink it otherwise. So for the longest time i thought gatorade was medicine. I got really confused when I first saw someone buy it from the supermarket, and then my dad explained that its just a regular drink.

I used to believe…

When I was little I didn't like a lot of kinds of food, so whenever my mom made anything she would just tell me it was chicken so I would try it, since chicken was about the only thing i would eat.

I used to believe that I could hear bugs living in my ears when I'd lay down on my side to go to sleep. I was terrified that I'd have to have brain surgery to get them out. Years later I realized this was just the blood pulsing in my head.

I thought that, when you would experience flatulence, a bubble would appear in your pants and the bigger the "release", the larger the bubble. This is why you wouldn't want to experience a large "release" in a public place because it was more likely that someone would notice.

I used to believe…

When I was little it would take me what seemed like forever to fall asleep. I always envied my parents who could fall asleep within minutes. I believed that when you grew up you gained the skill to fall asleep quickly.

I used to believe…

My dad told me that if you eat pomegranate seeds they will grow inside of you. Whenever I are it I always crushed the bead in my mouth and then take out the seed also I ate it one at a time to make sure I accidentally are one.

I used to believe…

Before I understood the digestive system, I thought that there was a separate stomach for food and liquid that would funnel liquid out as pee and solids would go straight to the rear

I remember my mom told me once that if I ate dust I would grow bacteria in my stomach, but instead of bacteria (when I was telling all my friends on the play ground) I said cafeteria. :O Oops!

I used to believe…

When I was a child, my father told me that sleeping with my socks on would make my feet fall off. I still don't sleep with socks on.

I used to believe that if I fell asleep with my mouth open, a bad guy (like a criminal type) would come put sleeping pills into my mouth. As I got older I rationalized that it wouldn't matter anyway, as I was asleep already. And as an adult I now actually need sleeping pills to help me sleep.
