When I was little, I thought that my dreams were partially in the realm of reality. When my dreams ended with me falling, I would wake up and feel the sensation of falling into my bed.

I used to think girls peed from their butt.

before i went to sleep i would come up with a battle plan for my numerous stuffed animals. I would talk to them each individualy and put them by my head or back or wherever. They fought the bad guys trying to kill me from the evil side of the bed all night. So in the morning i would thank them and tell them to get some rest.

When I was about 11, my neighbor told me a story about a parrot that sits hidden inside your toilet, and when you are going to the bathroom it will come up and bite your rear, so I never sat down on the toilet, i squated until one day I was so tired that I forgot to squat and I just sat down, and nothing happened. I wasn't scared anymore!

Okay, so you know how most TV shows are 30 minutes long? Well, when I was a kid and it would get to be my bed time I would go through the usual conversation with my mom.
"Can I just finish this show, pleeeeeeeeease?"
"Sure but go on to bed at 8:30"
"Thanks mom!"
I could never figure out how she always knew the show would go off at 8:30, so I convinced myself that she was a mind-reader.

When I was a kid my dad would tell me that if I would take a nap there would be food ready for me when I woke up. Now I was really young, so I thought that people really only slept for as long as it feels--5 or 6 seconds--so when I would wake up and my dad would have lunch all ready I thought that he must have super powers, like food vision or freezing time.

Well, this isn't about me but my little brother. We had a dog and he would shed all the time so there'd be strands of hair everywhere. I told my brother that if he accidentally swallow a strand of dog hair, he would grow fur too. And then I said that it was already too late for him and I pointed out that there were fur on him already(it was actually his arm hair/peach fuzz). He started panicking and I was cracking up.

I worked with a guy who thought that farts were microscopic pieces of poo and he was afraid he would get sick if he breathed them. He was 23!
I used to believe that if you sat on the toilet too long that a Naked Mole-Rat would come out of the hole at the bottom and hurt/eat you.
I used to believe that when you broke your arm or leg it actually broke off your body

My mum would always talk about the dangers of eating raw meat for fear of tapeworms, and said that if you had one, you needed to put a bowl of soup up to your mouth and the tapeworm would come out. I believed this for quite some time, until I learnt that tapeworms live in your intestines, not your stomach :P

My sister believed, til she was almost an adult, that if she peed in the pool, it would cause a reaction that would turn the water red and everyone would know. I guess mom told her that to make sure she got out...

When I was probably four, I woke up in the middle of the night with a terrible cough that sounded like a donkey. I genuinely believed that for being a "bad boy" I was being transformed into a donkey like in Pinocchio.

When I was very young (under three) I had what today can only be explained as being a dream. In it, I saw these shadows of people walking on the moon, and my dad pointed to them, telling me they were the people on the moon. I thought it was real, and for a long time I believed I actually saw people on the moon and didn't understand why my dad couldn't remember.
I used to have a lot of nightmares when I was little, so I always dreaded bedtime, because of my fear of the bad dreams. So one day, I decided that maybe if I wrote on a piece of paper what I wanted to dream about [happy stuff like mermaids or flowers or rainbows] and stuck it under my pillow right before I went to sleep, my brain would receive my "good" dream wishes, and the nightmares wouldn't be able to get through. And if I woke up the next morning without any recollection of a bad dream, that meant that it had worked.
This may seem silly, but I believe, even 20 years later, that it was a good idea. lol.

My granny told me and my siblings and cousins that we'd get warts if we peed in the road.
It wasn't true..lol
I went to Turkey one summer with my family when I was about 7. They sold these bracelets and necklaces that were apparently supposed to protect against evil spirits. My mom told me that the bracelet she got me would protect me against the "evil eye."
I took this literally - I saw a man that had a messed up eye in the store. I got so freaked out, so I held up my bracelet to his face in the hopes that it would act as some magic talisman that would protect me from getting hurt.
