Because schools required the students to tell teachers where they were at all times, I grew up with the belief that in order to go to the washroom/toilet, you had to ask the teacher or parent first. This proved a problem one night when I was in bed and my parents were in the living room. I needed to GO, but my parents couldn't hear my question being asked. I gradually increased my volume until I screamed out and my parents came rushing in (I think they thought I was getting kidnapped or something) only to find me doing the bathroom dance.
I was a funny kid. xD
I used to believe that when i was awake, someone else was dreaming what i was doing and when i was sleeping...the dreams i was having was someone else's daily life. (so they were sleeping while i was awake...and i was sleeping while they were awake!!)

My little sister asked my dad one day "When you fart what comes out of your butt? Is it smoke?" He told her it wasn't smoke then she asked "Is it steam?" He replied you might have steam coming out of your butt, but it's not coming out of mine.

I was about 6 and thought my family invented the fart because I never heard anyone outside my family do it.

I used to believe that cancer meant surgery.
I used to belive that every time you ate, all that food would go straight to your feet until it reached up tp my neck and then we throw it up. And when ever i ate i looked at my foot, just to see if they got fatter. I believed this until i was 10. . . . 10! I then realized that the food goes to my stomach. I was so a creepi kid then. . . . . .

when i was little, i had a great sense of memory and i had alot of deja vu's so i used to think i was pshychic and my older brother actually relied on me to tell the future. of course, when we got older he was in a bad mood and told me off.... and my parents just thought i was a little girl making things up to get attention... but i always thought i had magical powers untill i learned what deja vu's were.

When I was in school in the 80s and we started to hear about what AIDS was, we were told you could get it by using 'dirty needles.' My mom had taught me to sew, so whenever I was sewing doll clothes or whatever I'd be extra careful not to prick myself with the needle because I was convinced I'd get AIDS and die.
I had to eat to feed the creature inside my belly. If I didn't eat enough or went too long without getting food then he would get mad and start growling and punching my insides. The only way to make him happy was to eat until I felt stuffed.

When I was little, I used to think that if you woke up fast enough that you could see yourself sleeping
Call me crazy but i believed it for a really really long time until I was like 8 or something like that.

My four year old son became ill at preschool and I had to go and retrieve him. He heard the teacher tell me that he had diarrhea (he heard die-aria) and he asked me if that meant he was going to die. Poor little guy!

Growing up as a child I was unaware of the fact that men peed standing up. It wasn't until i was in Jr. High when a friend dared me to run in and out of the boys bathroom that I first saw a urinal. At first glance I thought that the urinal was a special type of sink that boys required. It wasn't until months later when my mother got my dad in trouble for leaving the toilet seat up yet again, did I have the curiosity to ask what the big deal was. It was then that she explained to me how it was that men peed. I felt like a complete idiot having believed the boys and girls pee sitting down.

As a VERY small child (probably no more than two), I was convinced that if I did not consciously breathe in and out every second that I would die. I don't know how long I thought this but I was quite relieved when I told my mom about it and she reminded me that when I went to sleep each night my body would breathe "on its own" and I hadn't died yet.
I have been a very restless sleeper my whole life, especially when I was younger. Sometimes, I would wake up completely turned around, with my head at the foot of my bed. I thought gnomes came in my room in the middle of the night and turned me around :p

My parents were insistent that it was perfectly safe to dig a thorn out of my hand, or break a blister with a needle, but if you used a straight pin, you would die of poisoning! That's about when I started to believe that parents do not know everything!

A boy i knew when we were seven, thought that girls do'nt fart. Well, i farted and he believed i was a boy for a looooooooong time, no matter how many times i said i was'nt.

When I was small I believed tomorrow only came because I went to sleep. I thought if only I could stay awake all night it would always be today.

When we were about six or seven, my best friend and I were convinced we could do magic. We'd make each other's eyes appear to change color by suddenly running towards each other. It must have been a trick of the light or something, because for an instant or so I could swear her naturally blue-grey eyes turned green!! She'd also inform me that my brown ones had turned bright blue. We wondered how to make the changes last longer--maybe by spinning around fast enough or long enough, with our eyes closed and yelling gibberish 'magic words' , we could make them permanent. No such luck, sadly.

When I was in about 6th grade, we had a (female) gym teacher who told us girls that if we got hit in the breast with a softball, we should rub the place to prevent the bruise from developing into breast cancer later. So I guess kids are not the only ones with dumb beliefs.
