Once, after a very bad flight, I felt sick in my stomach, and I told my mom. She replied that it was probably because the flight was turbulent. After that, I always called throwing up turbulence.

My little brother used to believe that he couldn't touch anything pink, or it would cause an incurable rash where it touched. The only way to prevent the rash would be to "wipe off" the pink with blue ASAP.

When I was about 8 I thought it was really grown up using perfume. I put some on my wrists and neck (like I saw my mum doing) and went out. Before we left I some-how licked my arm (where the perfume flavour had spread) and it tasted funny. I knew perfume was poisonous and got really, really worried. I was crying and telling everyone I loved them, until mum broke it to me by saying "Oh darling, such a little amount won't kill you." I was really embarrassed and said, "Yes... I know THAT mum I was just checking."

my dad has always had a pretty severe alergy to poison ivy, and i thought that when he got poison ivy it made bubblegum grow out of his skin. i later learned that the medicine he put on to relieve the itch was just pink.

One time when I was little I was sitting on the toilet a very long time so my mom told me that if you sit on the toilet too long, you'll get a rash sort of thing on your butt. The only way to get it off is to go to the hospital and they have to cut it off. My mom then told me that she had it when she was going to the hospital to give birth to me. I probably believed that rash story longer than any other childhood belief. It took me while to realize that my mom never had part of her butt cut off right before she gave birth to me, I would have heard about it more than that one time!

I once believed that Band-Aids (this was before they had the easy-remove kind) were used for the sole purpose to make you forget the pain you already had, due to the fact that they were so painful to remove!

I had visited a neighbour's house and noticed she had a huge scary scab on her lip. I asked her daughter what it was and she told me it was a coleslaw. When my granny put some coleslaw in a salad one day I had a big screamy fit and refused to go near it. I avoided coleslaw for years.

I used to believe that Rheumatic fever was romantic fever and you got it if you fell in love. Even though I had rheumatic fever as a child, probably because I loved David Cassidy, I didn't realize the truth until I was in nursing school.

when i was 4 years old, my mom got into a jet-ski accident and broke 3 ribs. after she had recovered a little, the doctor had prescribed painkillers to make her feel better. One day she joked that she was "all drugged up", and I had just seen a comercial about how bad drugs are. i panicked and hid all of the medicine in my whole house. i believed that medicine was illegal drugs for about 3 years, and i would refuse to take any. :D
