I used to think that I could eat a lot of food at Thanksgiving, but my stomach size would show my limit. I thought that if I got too full, my belly would reach the table and my belly button would pop out!

I used to believe that there were little people living in my stomach who would play with the food I sent down, e.g., ride on Cheerios like inner tubes on the milk. If they didn't like something I ate, they would push a button to reject it.

I use to believe that when we eat the feet goes down to our toes and keeps going up. That's why we grew, the food was stretching out our bodies. If we threw up it meant that there was no more room at the time for the food.

When I was little I never connected eating and elimination. I thought that any food you ate stayed inside you until you got the flu and puked it up. Consequently, I thought eveyone had to get the flu once a year or they would fill up and be unable to eat again until they'd vomited. I also knew someone who stopped eating as a child because she saw her uvula at the back of her throat and thought that it was backed up food. She was afraid she was running out of room in her body and wanted to save what little space she had left for sweets.

I used to believe that the stomach was made of all these tubes, a different tube for a different kind of food. A cake tube, a pasta tube, a brownie tube. Things like these. Then, my sister put me in my place. :(

I used to think that when I ate, food fell all the way to my feet, and the more I ate, the more my body got filled. Sometimes I was afraid of eating too much and thought the food would pile as high as to the top of my throat. I thought I wouldn’t be able to fit anymore food in me!

When I was little and visited my grandma, I always used to eat alot at the dinner table. She used to say with mock-surprise "where do you put it all?! the little men down there must be shovelling it away fast". i really used to believe that little men lived in my stomach and they had to shovel all my food out of my body!

My 4-year-old son used to think that when you ate the food went to your legs first and filled you from the bottom up. So when it was time for dessert, he would say, I still have some room left in my right arm!

When I was little, I used to believe that there was a compartment that had the exact shape of the food that you ate. (e.g. when we ate hot dogs, there was a compartment shaped exactly like a hot dog that it filled up.). When I would say that I was full, I would say that "there's still the dessert compartment left to fill up!"
