I used to believe that your belly button held your skin together, and that if you "undid" your belly button, all your skin would fall off. Needless to say, I never let anyone go near my stomach. To this day I hate people touching my stomach, although I don't honestly believe my skin will fall off anymore.

When I was about 7 I was lying on the couch, watching tv, and I guess my shirt was up enough so that my navel was visible. My Uncle came over to me and said "Aha! I can see your belly button!". Then he poked it and told me I was going to explode in 10 years. I freaked out, crying until he told me it was a joke.

I used to believe that if I swallowed chewing gum that I would turn into a telephone, why? Who Knows.
I also believed that when I was in my mothers belly that she would hold the telephone to her belly button at the same time as her mate who was pregnant with my best friend at the time and we could chat even before birth. We later proved that no practice was required as we still don't get off the phone for hours and we are 30.

I used to think that your whole stomach was called a belly button, and that your whole midsection was part of it.

My Mom used to tell me that she could take a screwdriver and unscrew our belly buttons and our legs would fall off. But I always had a great sensitivity in my belly button and couldn't stand for it to be touched.

I used to believe that if you got all the black bits out of your belly-button, your insides would fall out ! I believed that untill I was about 10 then realised it was dirt and not seeds which I thaught I was born with to keep my insides inside!

as a little kid i used to believe that if i put my finger into belly button and push it even very gentle i will make a hole and everything inside my stoomach will come out and i will die. that's why i was very scared off touching my belly button.

I am 30 years old and STILL KNOW that if anyone else touches my belly button, it WILL come unraveled! It won't kill me, but boy will it be uncomfortable! Unfortunately, my wife finds this hilarious and always tries to untie my belly button for me. Luckily, I'm able to make her stop by touching her throat right between her collar bones, which she thinks will make her throat collapse!

My Pop-pop has always been a troublemaker and a comedian in the family. I still remember he told me that if I unbuttoned my belly button, all of my guts would spill out. I was so scared to ever touch my belly button for a long time.

When I was little I used to think that your belly button had an imaginary cord that went up to heaven and God had a remote control connected to it. I thought that that was how God made us do things.

I used to pick my belly button when I was small and one time my brother told me if I kept doing that, it would pop off and rice would spill out and they wouldn't be able to stop it. I stopped poking at my belly button for a while after that. I still get nervous sometimes when I do, and try my best not to poke too hard.

I have an innie belly button. When I was a kid,I thought the little bit of skin in it was a baby inside me sticking his finger out,and he'd be born when i was "grown up".

when I was about four, my daddy used to tell me that my belly button was a seed under the skin. I used to try as hard as I could to push it into my stomach so you couldnt see it.

When I was little I used to wonder what the little knot was on the inside of my navel. Mine had a more prominant bellybutton on the inside and I wanted it to go away. I was told it would get smaller as I got older. Well, momma, I'm 26 and my navel STILL has that outie thing in it, lol.

I wasn't sure to put this in sex or body parts, but whatever. My story is that I used to believe that girls covered their top because they were embarrassed to show their bellybutton. My sister and mother usually wore single-piece bathing suits, so I never was confused by two-piece bathing suits.

I used to believe that I could eat a lot in one sitting, but if I got too full, my belly button would pop into an outie!

I used to believe that as you grew taller/larger, your skin grew out of your belly button to cover your extra inchs. One day I put a biro circle round my belly button and watched for ages to see if the biro mark moved. Obviously I had a lot of time on my hands when I was younger!!!!
