when i was younger maybe around 4. i used to believe that an afro was a disease you got when you were older. my brother has a different type of hair than i do so his would be a 'fro and mine was just curly so i assumed since i hug around him all of the time i would eventually catch the disease. so i avoided him for a few weeks until i learned the truth

I used to think that pubic hair was "public" hair and it didn't make any sense because pubic hair is private, not public

When I was little, my parents once told me that I caused the bald spot on my dad's head. They said that I rubbed the hair off with my chin when I would ride up on his shoulders.
It would be years before it even dawned on me that they had been pulling my leg.

when I was little my dolls heads had little holes where the hair came out. One day while sitting brushing my mothers hair I asked her where's all the holes? I thought that was how hair was supposed to look.

I used to think that black people had hair made of yarn.

I also used to think that anyone could grow a beard if they wanted to - even women. I didn't know that beardless people shaved - I just assumed if you wanted a beard, one would grow, and if you didn't want one, it wouldn't grow.

I believed that men didn't go bald because ther hair fell out or stopped growing but that the hair would grow through their head and come out of their ears and nose! Old bald men always had hairy ears and noses.

When I was 5/6, I asked mom why dad was bald. Dad told me his hair blew away in a tornado. Everytime I watch the Wizard of Oz, I think of my dad!

When I was little, to discourage me from sticking out my tongue, my mother told me that it was attached to my hair, and that my hair would get shorter every time I stuck it out. I really liked long hair ... still do. To this day, I don't stick out my tongue!

I used to believe there were two kinds of mustaches, the kind that grew on your upper lip and another kind that grew across the bridge of your nose right under your eyes and that was the kind suitable for curling and waxing. Hanna-Barbera gave me this impression.
