My sister only recently found out that the dogs we had when we were kids didnt go to live on a farm and chase rabbits, the story our parents told us when they had them put down. Shes 18. Come to think of it she thinks i was joking when i told her that.

A friend told me this about someone she knew. He thought that up until the age of about 20 that if a goldfish died and you put it in a dark cupboard over night it came back to life in the tank. He was certain about this and said that his mother did this as a child. He was shocked when my friend pointed out that his mother probably went to the shop and bought another goldfish

My Mom and I used to drive up to another town in California to visit some friends of hers quite often. On the way, we would always pass the same Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant. In the window was propped a life-size mannequin of Colonel Sanders, the company's mascot. The first time we drove past it, my mother, thinking herself to be hilarious, told me that the mannequin was actually the REAL Colonel Sander's mummified body, preserved, stuffed, and put up for display. I believed this for many years afterward, always staring with amazement as we drove by, wondering why the body had not decayed yet, and squeezing my eyes shut when the glare of the dead Colonel got to be too much for me to handle. Thanks, Mom.

when i was a kid i wondered what happened to all the people who died in action movies. i finally convinced myself that they simply hired someone who was willing to die to play the villain then kill them.

My teacher told me to write a on euthenasia. she only gave me verbal instructions, never writing down the actual term. Being a kid during the Vietnam war, and having never heard that term before, I spent hours at the library trying to research "Youth In Asia" until the libaraian finally set me straight.

When I was preschool age, I thought that the firing squads and death squads mentioned on TV involved running over people with emergency vehicles.

When I was 7 years old my older brother said that I had a decise that when I turned 8 I would all of a sudden drop on the floor, shake and then die! The worsed thing was my birthday was in 4 days!!!!! The day before my birthday my brother came in to my room were I was saying good-bye to all my stuffed animals. Then he said" you should hurry up and write your will." asked him what a will was and he said that it was a letter that said what things you want to leave with the person who told you that you were going to die and what things you want to be baried with you. Then he went "WOW! I just noticed something!" "What?" I said "I'm the one who told you that you were going to die so I get all your stuff!!!" That night when my mom said that it was time for bed. I asked if I really had to go to bed sence it was my last day to live. She asked me what I was talking about and I told her the whole story. Then my mom and I played the same trick on him except he was going to die in 2 hours! Then I said that he better get writing his will and making his confesions. Then he finally blurted out "YOU AREN'T REALLY GOING TO DIE I JUST WANT YOUR GAME BOY!!!!!" (back then game boy's just came out.) Then we said he really wasn't going to die either!!!

When I was 5 or 6, I believed that my sisters and I would die in the order that we were born. When I would get into an argument with my older sister, I would tell her "You are going to die 3 years before me" to "tick" her off. I, also, had a younger sister. So when I got into an argument with her, I realized I was screwed because I was going to die 2 years before her. At the time, it sounded "logical" to me.

My Great Aunt Louise died when I was about four years old, and it was my first funeral.
A few hours before the wake, my older siblings began explaining to me that a wake was a pagen ritual (we are Catholic, as was my Aunt) in which we would cut off the head of a chicken, drink the blood, dance around a fire in the nude, and "WAKE" the person from the dead.

Needless to say, I stuck close to my mother that entire night.

My dalmatian dog, Kim, died when I was three and my mum and dad explained that he had went to a better place. Since then I would only let my mum buy a particular brand of dog food for our other dog becuase there was a dalmatian used in one of their commercials, therefore it must be Kim and this brand was the best if it makes him happy. I was so upset later when the advert stopped running and the dog never came home, they had to explain all over again.

I used to believe that when you died your tounge stuck out and you put your hands across your chest, oryou held flowers. When my brother and I would fake death when we played that's what we did.

When my brother and I were at a school fair we both won goldfish. His died in a couple of days and the next day when I came home from school- there was my fish, laying on my desk...with a fork through it. I cried and cried and my brother told me that he had seen our cat do it because it was jealous. I believed him for years!

I used to believe there were small bull like animals that ate kittens. You see, one of my kittens died from choking on a fur ball when I was in 1st grade. I heard fur "Bull" and for several years told no one, but looked around a LOT when alone in the house. It took me years to realize the truth.

When I was around 5 or 6, I saw part of some police procedural tv movie, and the victim had died from a "blow to the back of the head". For at least a year or two afterwards, I thought that if someone blew on the back of your head, you could die. It affected me enough that I could not fall asleep on my side, with the back of my head exposed.

I once believed that when people died it was because the sandman had put too much sand in their eyes and they just couldn't wake up.

I used to have a cat and my parents put a flea collar on the cat. When I asked what it did my mom told me it was posion and any flea that touched it would died. She also told me if I touched it I would get posion on my hands and I must wash them right away. Being a child, I knew posion meant death and, not wanting to die, I spent many years of my life running to a sink after petting my cat so I wouldn't be posioned.

I used to believe that when you died, it had to be on your birthday or on a day close to your birthday.

I have a brother who is about three years younger than I. When I was about five, he fell down and skinned his knee, and continued crying very loudly for a long time.

I turned to my mother and said, "Oh, I hope he doesn't suffer so much we have to shoot him."

I guess I thought the practice of putting animals out of their misery applied to humans as well.
