My Grandmother died at our home when I was 9, I believed her ghost would rush out at me unless I ran really fast past her bedroom at night afterwards.
I was really glad when we moved house because her ghost would not be able to come with me to the new house.

When I was young I understood that people died in one of two ways: either through old age or some terrible accident or disease. However, I thought that once someone had a mid-life crisis, they knew *exactly* what age they would die by simply doubling however old they were when it happened. It made sense at the time, and indeed until I was probably 11 or 12 years old.

I used to believe…

My son bought his two daughters both a floppy ear rabbit to teach them responsibility of caring for animals. He bought them "special rabbit food" and built a pen in the backyard for the rabbits to sleep in. Each morning before they would go to the baby sitters they would feed their rabbits a bit of "special rabbit food" and give them a big hug and every evening when they came home they would get their rabbits out and bring them in the house to play. These rabbits were really spoiled and very well taken care of. Well about six weeks later my son came home early from work and found that the youngest daughters rabbit had died. He knew the girls would be heart broken and they had been so careful to take good care of their rabbits. He calls my husband and tells him to run to a pet store and buy another rabbit like the one who had died. My husband gets to the store and can't decied which rabbit looks like the deceased rabbit. My son is in the process of burying the rabbit and my husband calls him and tells him he needs a more detailed description of the bunny to try and get a good match. So my son has to dig up the deceased rabbit and describe every spot and marking of the rabbit to his dad. Well grandpa is convinced that he has found the perfect decoy rabbit to slip back into the cage before the girls get home.

Sure enough as soon as the girls arrive home they run to get their bunnies out to play with them. All at once my son and husband hear the girls screaming, "Oh, my gosh....oh my gosh". Their first thoughts are on no another rabbit has died and they run to the girls and ask what is wrong. The youngest daughter turns around with a huge smile on her face and holds up her rabbit and says, "look how much he's grown.....I feed him extra "special rabbit food this morning". To this day both granddaughters still talk about the growth spurt of the bunny from eating so much "special rabbit food" while father and grandfather chuckle in the background because they know that grandpa was told everything about the markings for the replacement bunny except what size he was.

When I heard that someone had died and were going to be buried, I thought that their body was just thrown into a hole and covered up with dirt.

I use to believe that on Halloween you shouldn't walk near or through cemetaries or you would see the souls of the dead floating above their graves. I thought that at midnight after all the kids were done trick or treating that all the evil beings would gather and have a meeting of how to cause chaos in there area that year

My cousins and I came to the conclusion at our eldest aunts open casket wake that since she was dead the watch she was wearing must be dead too. We used to believe that your watch would stop if you died. That kind of made me not want to wear a watch anymore, but hahaha I won't take mine off now.

When my sister and I were young we used to believe that in order to be dead your tongue had to be hanging out. No exceptions.

I used to believe that when people were cremated and buried in small graves, that they were buried head upwards. So they were standing underneath the grave, and whenever I accidently walked over them, I thought I was pushing their feet into the centre of the Earth.

I used to believe cats could not die (until I saw what was left of one crushed by a car).

Actors in western films really died when they were shot. That's why the cast often consisted of older men who didn't have much remaining lifetime anyway.

I used to believe that you die when you hit 100 years.
This caused me great distress, as I could count to 100 very fast.

When I was a kid I would see R.I.P. on gravestones and I thought that was the guys name. I remarked once to my mother, "man that guy RIP is burried all over the place." She then explained, "It means rest in peace."

I used to believe…

When I was six or seven, I used to think that if you swallowed even the tiniest piece of plastic, you were doomed to death. I also thought that plastic and paper were the same thing. So, one Christmas after presents were opened and breakfast was being prepared, I accidently (don't ask me how) swallowed a bit of wrapping paper or something like that. When I realized with horror what I had done, I crawled behind the couch and waited to die. After about thirty seconds, I realized I wasn't going to die, at least not then anyway. So I went and ate breakfast. The end.

I used to believe…

when i was little i had a theory that when you are about to die that all your closest friends, relative etc.. sits around with you and you go to this room where they all watch a video of your life. I thought that somehow your brain was videotaping everything that happened even your thoughts and when the end is near everyone will watch it ... so i always tried not to look at bad stuff or think any bad thoughts :P
