When I was younger I thought that everything I did was written down in a big book that other people would get to read when I died. Sometimes I would "remember" and in my head I would be reciting what would go in the book. I suppose I was influenced by Michael Ende's The Neverending Story.

Not my belief, but a friend's. She flushed her dead goldfish down the toilet and ever since won't you use that toilet because she believes the fish is going to came back up and bite her butt.
I used to believe that as you lived your life your brain saved everything you ever saw, thought, or felt like a sort of special video camera. I thought that when you died all your friends would have access to these by sitting around and watching the TV with your body plugged in. I made sure not to think any bad thoughts about my close friends because I know they would be upset when they heard my think it when I was dead!
I used ot believe that when people were buried, their bodies were like seeds that caused tombstones to grow. I waited and waited for that tombstone to come up when we buried my dog in the backyard. Yeah, it never did.
I used to belive that ghosts could steal your breath, or lifeforce and so whenever i was going passed a cemetary i used to hold my breath so they couldn't get in. I once almost passed out doing it

When I was about four, I sometimes got tired around noon and would fall asleep on the couch. Then one day I had to go to my grandfather's funeral. He looked just like a sleeping person! After that, I was worried that if I took a nap on the couch, my mom would think that I died and bury me. I asked my dad to write a note that said "I'm still alive," and when I felt like a nap, I would tape it to my shirt so my mom would know I wasn't dead.

I thought only animals and old people could die. It was a big shock for me when someone told me everyone can die...
I went to my great-uncle's funeral when I was about 6. After that, I believed that if I fell asleep with my hands folded across my torso, that I would die in my sleep.
I'm 27, and I still refuse to put my hands on my chest when I go to sleep!

Up until the age of seven, when I saw any animal or human dying, I always thought they were REALLY dying. My dad loved to watch shoot 'em up movies, and sometimes I would walk in when someone was getting shot. I used to believe this was the way the people executed the prisoners. Honest!

When my cat died I asked where he was and my dad said he died. I asked what that meant and he said it meant he had just stopped moving. So I thought when animals died they just completely ground to a halt and wouldn't move.

When he was little, my boyfriend believed that when people were buried after they died, they grew into something, just like planting a seed. He just couldn't figure out what they grew into.

When i was younger i thought R.I.P on graves was a persons name, i always wondered why so many Rips died.
I used to believe that when someone died and was cremated, they would put your dead body into a coffin, push the coffin down a steep hill, and it would land in a roaring bombfire while people threw beer bottles into it and watched it explode. That was in second grade. I just learned that that is not what happens. lol. I also thought a creamery (ice cream place) was where you got cremated, and wondered why so many people were there in the summer. Ok, that was last year when I thought that. I'm still a kid so that counts!
I used to believe that if you drew a triangle on your body with 3 dots, you would die. I have no idea where I got that idea. I still can't draw triangles on my body with 3 dots.

My mom named me after her beloved cat, Melissa, who was still alive when I was about 4. By then, I had already learned that when an animal was sick, you had to put it down. (we had already lost one of our dogs) Then, one night, when I had the flu, I came downstairs to get a glass of water, and I overheard my mom saying "Yeah, Melissa is so sick... I think I'm going to have to put her down." I was terrified, so I ran back upstairs and convinced myself that if I went right to bed, I would get better in the morning, and I wouldn't have to die.
I used to think that the actors who died in movies actually died. I thought the directors had a casting call before shooting the movie where people who wanted to die would line up and get assigned parts.

When I was about 7 I went up Blackpool Tower with my mum and dad and asked what would happen if you threw yourself off the top. My dad said you would end up on the street below as jam. For years I thought you actually turned into jam somehow on the way down. I feel really stupid now for ever thinking this.

My daughter plays alot of a game called Ratchet and Clank(I mean the whole series she is crazy about it) and in there if you get killed ratchet spins around and falls down. My daughter believes that when people die they all spin around and fall down. She still doesn't believe me when I say they don't

My great-grandmother (age 97) was the first funeral that I went to. It was open casket, and it smelled terrible. I thought it was the body! It wasn't until they brought all the flowers back to the house that I realized it was the daisies.
