Before I knew about death, I used to believe that people grew up, got old, and then grew down again and got young, so that people were just in a constant state of flux.

When I was about eight my grandpa died and I went to his funeral. I noticed a silver semi-sphere with holes in (flower holder) and I thought it was a speaker so I started speaking through it and I thought I was talking to my grandpa. My mum lifted me up and told me I was speaking to a flower holder!

When I was young, my very old dog had to be put to sleep. We were with him, and the injection the vet used was a bright pink fluid. From that day on, I refused to wear, buy, or even look at anything pink, because I thought the pink itself had killed him.

This is not strictly my belief, but hey. When I was 8, my hamster died and my 2 next door neighbours came round (aged 6 and 8) and we all had a funeral. My parents couldn't find a box to put the hamster in, so they eventually put it in an envelope. So there we all are standing round the hole and my parents are trying to be very solemn, when my 6 year old neighbour looks at the envelope and asks plaintively, "Are you going to send it back to the shop?". I am very proud of my parents for not keeling over with laughter.

When I was 12 I went to this camp that my mom made me go to and it was so boring that I deceided to tell this other kid that had a lot of bug bites that if you got over a hundred of them you would die and she believed me. She counted them all up and she had over a hundred and she started to cry and screaming really loud about how she didnt want to die. You could just imagine how happy the counslers were with me after that.

I used to believe that when bad guys got shot in the cowboy and indian movies, that they were really bad guys from the prisons being shot as punishment for their crimes! I got worried when I saw the scenes where lots of people died thinking what a lot of bad people lived in the world.

when i was little and on a family outing or trip
we were driving past a cemetary my dad would alwaysmake that corny old joke "thats the dead centre of [Birmingham/Chester/Liverpool etc]"
but i took it seriously and for years (and i mean, til like my early teens) i beleived that cemetaries had to be built in the actual centre of a town. like it was a rule or something.
until of course, me and some mates were on a school trip when we were 13 and got lost in the middle of birmingham, we knew that the train station in new street mustbe pretty centrally located so i helpfully suggested "well lets just look for the graveyard, thats the dead centre of town, the station should be nearby"
they had to point out the joke for about 5 minutes whilst laughing hysterically before i would beleive it wasnt actually true, i kept saying, no really, my dad told me, and was even really tempted to make up something like, hes a town planner or an architect or something to save face. oh god i am so embarrassed by this one!!!!
I used to think that when you died. You used to float up into the clouds. So whenever I saw a break in the clouds with the sun shining through in the distance, I thought somebody was floating up to heaven!
I used to belive that you rented a coffin for the funeral and then just dumped the dead body into the dirt and left them there forever, and that the next person to die would get the other person's coffin.

When I was younger, I asked my dad when people died. He told me that you died when you were one-hundred years old and that you would be reborn from the womb again. I started crying because I didn't want to go in the womb again for some strange reason, but that's another story.
I seemed to then be under the idea that when you turned one-hundred you died the night of your birthday. I thought that you'd have a huge party with your friends and family and then you'd die in your sleep.
I was always told that you had to hold your breathe while passing a graveyard or you would be the next to be put there.

My Dad always told me the dead animals by the road were just taking a nap.
Also, once there was a dead cat in the canal behind our house and he told me it was bobbing for fish.
