When I was 6 my parents bought me a polo neck jumper in a plastic bag, which carried the warning "Danger, may cause suffocation to small children." I was amazed by my parents' lack of care in buying me such a dangerous item of clothing and congratulated myself that my ability to read had saved me. I was always sure to hold my breath whenever I put the jumper on.

We had a non-breed dog named Sam for about 7 years when my Mum became pregnant with my Sister to be. My parents said that Sam, me and the new Baby will be too much for my Mum to look after, so when I was at School one day Sam was taken to a Canine Sanctuary.
When I was about 20 years old I told my current girlfriend and she asked if that was true, suggesting in reality Sam had been put to sleep.
Naively, It had never occured to me this could be the case. 10 Years later, I have still not asked my parents in case it is true and Sam was not adopted after all.

When my grandma died when I was 5, I was the only one not crying my eyes out. The reason was because I thought that you would go to Heaven for a week and then come back. I was prooved wrong. :P

whenever an important character in a movie dies, someone always rushes up to them and lifts their arm up to take the deceased's pluse. upon not finding one the person drops the deceaseds arm in dismay. i used to believe that the reason they were lifting the dead persons arm up was a way to test if they were really dead or not. if they were alive, the arm would stay up, if they were dead it would drop back down.
i had not yet discovered the concept of a pulse

When my guinea pig died when I was about 6, I wrote all these letters to her addressed to "Heaven" and put them in the mailbox. I am 15 now and was looking through my memorobilia and I found all the letters hidden in a corner. My mother kept them and hid them from me.

I once licked a bleach bottle top, and my mother told me I was going to die in a few minutes....mean, I know, but I never licked bleach again!

I used to believe that a graveyard was a place where you would get killed. Since I was always told that was where the dead bodies were, I believed that were guys that shot you once you walked in.

As a small child I always confused someone being unconcious with someone being dead.
I used to think when people got shot in movies that it was real. My parents told me that how would actors agree to die just for a movie... but I thought they were lying to me so I wouldn't freak out. Then they just told me that it wasn't blood, that it was just ketchup. So that Christmas I asked for a gun that shot ketchup like the ones used in movies hahaha.

I used to believe that when someone died the ambulance would take them to the hospital where they would be brought back to life. I learned this was not true when my grandpa died when I was five.

My former teacher's dog died a few months ago. Her kids are about two and three, and they were upset about it, so they asked their parents where their dog went. They said their dog went to go live with God. A few weeks later, they drove by the vet's office and one of the kids called out "Look, it's God's house!" or something similar. As their vet's son was in my class at the time, my teacher had to inform him that his father was now God.
I used to beleive that when some one would die the 'grim reaper' would get thiem... but with an odd diffreence. The grim reaper wore a flourecent orange PVC jacket and tight reptile skin pants, he looked like the person or animal (animal reaper wore the jacket and pants too) he was about to kill and when it was time to die he would hit you over the head with his guitar (he carried a large guitar) and said "Ha ha your dead) The person would fall to the floor. As a child i had a huge fear of glam rock bands coz they all dressed like this and carried guiars... I'm 29 and still have a fear of rock stars

When I was about seven, I went through a phase. I thought that everything I did I was going to die. If I stepped in a grease pool (from a car) with my good shoes on I was going to catch on fire. And if I put my plastic toys in the bathtub they would melt and burn me. And i also thought that if I got a carpet burn I would, well, burn. One day I got a carpet burn and started crying and screaming and It turned out my knees were just red. That was the end of that phase.

When I was little-little (3? 4?) way back in the crime-drama-and-violent-cartoon-filled 70's, I used to completely and utterly believe that if you laid down with your arms straight out to the side and your legs slightly spread (think classic "dead person pose"), and then closed your eyes and stuck your tongue out the side of your mouth, you'd drop dead instantly. I thought that when someone "died in their sleep" it meant that they had accidentally posed the death pose while they were asleep, and died. I was TERRIFIED that I'd do it to, so I started sleeping on my stomach. (For some reason, I believed the pose only worked if you were on your back.)
To this day (many, many, many years later), I still sleep on my stomach.
