When I was 5 I learned how to ride my bike minus the training wheels. :) My best friend Abby lived at the top of a hill leading directly to my drive-way at the bottom of the hill. One day she and I decided to race to my house. As we got closer and closer to my driveway I peddled faster and faster in attempts to win, it was neck and neck. My mothers car was parked in the drive-way so Abby began to slow down, I however forgot how to stop! Next thing I know I am laying on the trunk of my mom's 1978 Cutlas. There I lay on the back of my mom's car screaming for help. My friend, turns her bike around and heads home at this time. My mom comes out and peels me off of the car and carries me inside. We get inside, and the phone rings, it is my friends mother calling to see what happened, when Abby got home she was in hystarics... My poor friend thought that I had died and ran home to tell her mom (a nurse) and her father (a doctor) that they needed to save me.

When my mom actually told me how it was, I started screaming and throwing stuff. (i also couldn't sleep for days)

I lived in Texas when I was five, and for the first time saw an Armadillo laying on the side of the highway. My dad, for my benefit (I guess) told me that the armadillo's like to walk to the road and lay down to "sun themselves" on the side of the road. At my High School graduation party, my father overheard me telling my friends that the armadillos in Texas will walk up to the side of the road to "get a tan". He immediately corrected me, and told me he should have just told they were dead.

When I was little I used to believe that Funerals were supposed to be fun because they were FUN-erals. Come to find out it was not fun at all, it was sad. :-(

I used to believe that the purpose of a "wake" when someone died was one last attempt at trying to wake them up from the deep sleep that they were in. It confused me because at my grandfather's wake everyone spoke quietly, how would talking quietly wake them up? I just figured that he was a light sleeper, then again I was wrong!

I used to believe that if people lived for a long time, they'd keep getting taller until they reached the ceiling of their house, and when they get that tall, they get all flat, then grow again, and die all in a few seconds. Then they'd become babies who looked a lot like who they once were.

i believed in reincarnation and wen u died u come back as a pet, so ur pet now could of been the soul of an old man or woman

when i was little, (sad as it may seem)my best friend was my cat.
one day on our way to school she got hit by a car, ran into a brick wall and ran under the house. when we came home i went looking for her.. i found her lying all stiff on the floor.

my big brother said "no.. she's not dead.. she's just sleeping.." it was nice of him to try but the fact that the cat's eyes were open and flys were in them didn't help much.. how dumb do people think little kids are? lol

when i was wery young and was attending a kindergarden someone told me that if i was pinched once i would live 1 year less. After that i was afraid of playing with other children in the sandbox and wanted them out of my comfort zone. Simply i did not wont to die at a young age.

At a dinner party we were talking about childhood pets, when my mother told about how her cat had become to old to live at home anymore and had gone to live in a home for retired cats, this had happened when she was quite young (about 10).

As the story was told she suddenly realised that the cat had, in reality been taken to the vet and put down.

The sudden realisation that she had never mourned her precious childhood pet dawned on her and she collapsed in tears, as the 30 years of mistake became clear!

I used to believe that pictures held some mystical spiritual power over the subject. Namely, if the picture was destroyed, so was the person. Something like that. Imagine my dismay when i accidentally spilled elmer's glue on a wallet sized portrait of my dad. When i tried to wipe it off, his face came with it. I cried because i thought that i just killed my dad. Very relieved when he came home from work that evening.
