When I was 2 years old my Grandmother died. I then would always ask my father.why did grandma die? He would tell me because grandma did not eat her vegetables. (I hated veg's). So from then on I would always try to eat my vegetables because I was scared that I would die.

When ever my family would go to the graveyard to visit already departed family I would never get out of the car for fear that the buried people ( not just my family) would reach up and grab around your ankles and pull you in. To this day I still try to walk around the direct spot of burial.
i was always scared that when i saw the dead person in their cascet at the funeral, they were going to smile at me , but no one else could see the person, just me!

When I was little I had a pet gerbil, and gerbils don't seem to live that long........so my gerbil would die then somehow it would be back a few days later. This went on for years. I thought it was the damnedest thing that these animals died and then returned to life after a couple days, and that only I seemed to know this. One time my friend's hamster died and she was heartbroken, so I told her to get a gerbil cuz they're just like hamsters, except they come back from the dead. It wasn't till much later that I relized my dad had just been replacing the gerbils before he thought I'd notice it was gone.
I used to believe that everytime a balloon was released , it meant that a child had recently died.
I used to believe that people were never shot in the back so I always slept on my stomach to protect myself from murdering invaders in the night.

When I was about 4 years old, one of my classmates asked our preschool teacher about her parents. She told us that her parents had died, so they were in a cemetary. She said that sometimes she would go and visit them in the cemetary. I only had the vaguest idea of what happened when people died, so somehow I got the notion that my teachers' parents were just...stored...in glass coffins, so that when she went to visit them in the cemetary she could literally see their dead bodies (perfectly preserved, of course). Years later, watching Snow White again as an adult, I realized that I must have gotten this notion from Snow White and her glass coffin.

I used to believe that a street sign that read "Dead End" meant that there were dead people buried there.
I used to believe that the moment you blowed out the candles on the cake on your 100th birthday, you would die. And that no people lived past 100 years.

That after you died the people could still hear you. When I was 9 or 10 my Uncle died and I felt really good that he could hear all the good things the people were saying about him.

When I was little, my granny told me that if I left my drink sitting for awhile that a little worm would crawl into the drink and if I drank the drink I would die. She said she knew a man that it had happened to. She only did this so I would finish my drink and not leave it sitting around, and I think it was pretty ridiculous, but to this day I still don't like to leave a glass or a can with any drink in it and I refuse to drink anything that's been sitting out of my sight for any amount of time.

My 5 year old was really upset and concerned about dying. I told her that she had to be 90 to die and that she had a long way to go. A few months later, I had to go to a funeral. When I told her where I was going, she said oh, they were 90?

When I was about 3 & attending my grandmother's laying-out (at her home), I went over to her & touched her cheek. I did it VERY gently, & so got the erroneous impression that dead people were very soft--&, so, had apparently had their bones taken out! Being young enough to make this mistake I was neither surprised nor dismayed by it, & of course eventually learned better...but I remember thinking this was true for a long time.
I was told that if you ever raise your hand to hit your Mother, your hand would stand straight up in your coffin and they would have to break your arm to close it.

We used to have a pair of water turtles. One night we left the window open and my little cousin found them the next day. Since the water was so cold, he thought they were freezing and decided that a couple of seconds in the microwave would warm them up.
Well, you should guess the result...

My mom told me one day that she was going to a funeral. I thought it was a place to buy fruit.
I used to believe that if you got soap in your mouth you would get really sick and could possibly die. This belief started because I went to go feed my rabbit one evening when I was six or so. My mom told me to wash out his water dish really well with soap, but to be sure that I rinsed it out well too. She told me to be sure that there was no soap in the dish when I gave it to the rabbit. I asked why and she said that it would make him very sick and that he could die. Needless to say I was very careful when rinsing out the water bowl. Later that night I was taking a shower and I got soap in my mouth (I guess I wasn't being careful enough then) I screamed and screamed for my mother, and when she came in frantic and I told her what was wrong, she explained to me as best she could that it was the rabbit's delicate system that would cause the problem, and that I had no reason to worry...
To this day I still HATE getting soap in my mouth, More that anyone else that I know of... and I am super careful...

When I was litte, my mom and aunt told me that if it rained on the day of someones funeral, it meant they were going to heaven. I know that's not true, but still to this day I always hope it rains.
