When my sister was 6 or 7, she was playing with a lead ball that we had for some reason. She was rolling it on her cheek and it touched her tongue, and she cried and thought she would die.

When i was 9, I used to beleive that you would go to hell if you didn't say the lords prayer three times just before you died. The lords prayer had to be the last thing you said .. and you had to say it in full three times.

I used to wander around saying it under my breath just in case something happened to me too quick and I didn't have time to say it.

I must have looked pretty damn strange.

I used to believe…

My son was 3 when Dale Earnhardt died. He asked what happened. I told him that Earnhardt was in a crash and died but that he was in heaven with Jesus. A few months later, our cat died. When I told my son that Lucky died, he said "he's in heaven with Jesus and Earnhardt". So everytime he hears that someone dies, he says that it's okay because they are in Heaven with Jesus, Earnhardt, Lucky and our other cat Gypsy!

I used to believe…

When one of my pets would die my mother would tell me it ran away so I wouldn't feel bad. I actually believed that all my pets ran away until I was about 19 when she told me the truth about all the pets I ever had.

I used to believe…

My brother told me that anyone with an arm band, like the ones bartenders used to wear in old western movies, murdered his brother. So, I thought that anyone wearing any kind of bracelet high on the arm; around their bicep, murdered their brother. In the seventies, these bracelets were very popular among women, so I thought I was often surrounded by murderers.

I used to believe…

my grandpa passed away several years ago and my sister and i went to the funeral. there was a dog-food factory close to the gravesite and for years my sister thought she could smell my grandpa when it was the factory down the street. that had to have been traumatic for her...

my little sister had a pet mouse when we were young and when it died she dressed it in a modified doll dress and matching hat and buried in the front yard in a tupperware container. we still about the dead mouse's lovely ball gown!

I used to believe…

My friend actually believed this. He was playing with a vegetable peeler, and his mum told him not to. When he asked why, she said "That's how Grandpa died." His grandpa had actually died of cancer when he was very young, so he had no reason not to believe this. As he got older he started to question it, as vegetable peelers aren't very sharp. He finally confronted his mum when he was about thirteen and she denied ever having said it. She still does now.

I used to believe…

When I was about 6 I got stung by a bee and went screaming into my house thinking I was going to die. This due to the little "witch" down the street that loved to torture us younger kids. It took a trip to the doctor's to convince me otherwise.

I used to believe…

When I would watch TV and hear something like "Bank Robbery with two people killed, news at 11:00"...I thought that somebody KNEW this was going to happen, and I wondered why they never stopped it before it happened...at 11:00!

I used to believe…

When we went past old graveyards that had been refurbished they would have put the fallen stones together toward the middle, because they weren't 100% sure where the bodies really were. I used to believe that in the olden days they buried people standing on their heads, so they wouldn't take up too much room.

I used to believe…

When my Grandpa passed away when I was four years old my Mum told me that he had gone to "tomorrow land". I took this to mean that when you died, you just got stuck one day ahead of everyone else. I'm not sure what Mum meant by it, but I never felt sad about the passing of my Grandpa because he never seemed very far away.

I used to believe…

My great uncle passed away when I was quite young. For some strange reason, I figured dead people would be put in their coffins to be burried naked (I guess I didn't see the use of them bringing any clothes along or something... Though maybe my not being able to go to the funeral was the tip-off.).

I used to believe…

Growing up in the country, I would always see buzzards eating dead
animals. I was afraid that once you die, you get laid out in the field and
the buzzards would eat you. Still scares me today, but I know better now..

I used to believe that when people died, they weren't really gone, that their spirits used to come back and either haunt you or help you -- depending on how you treated them when they were alive and if you were a good friend or not). Another thing I used to believe is that I had the sixth sense.
