I used to believe…

When I was seven years old my grandma died. My father and my grandpa was with her when she died. When dad came home and told me garandma was dead, I got pissed off at him because he hadn't taken me to se her die, because I thought God would stretch his hand down and she would climb onto it and God would take her to heaven.......
Afterwards I used to dream that I spoke with her, and I thought it was for real.

I used to believe…

When I was about 10 me and my friend used to walk around collecting dead mice in the winter. Because they were just frozen, we thought we could just put a couple of blankets over them, and they would be alive again. The only problem now is that it actually worked once.....

I used to believe…

When I was 6 or 7 I had been to several funerals for very old people. I wasn't afraid of death because I believed you just crossed your arms and went to sleep. Everyone in the coffins had their arms crossed, so I figured that is how they died. Seemed very nice.

I used to believe…

As a kid I worried a lot. I used to think that my grandmother, who were 75, could die at any moment. And then when my mother walked in, and found her dead. I figured she would die from the shock. Then when my father would come and see them both dead and he would die too, and I would be all alone in the world! I hoped that the neighbours would let me stay with them.

This isn't my belief, but my cousins.
One time when I was little I felt like really play a trick on my younger cousin, so I told her that when animals die they leave a copy of themselves where they died and then they flyed up to dog heaven, cat heaven, mouse heaven or what ever kind of animal they were.
My cousin said she wanted to see when the dead animal would fly up to heaven, but then I said that they only did it when she was asleep.
And she really belived my for years and years to come.

I used to believe…

when i was a child, and people asked me where my grandparents lived, i used to just smile vaguely and point my finger to the sky, since the only thing i really knew was that i had to take a plane to get there (they lived up north). in norwegian, the expression for "the sky" and "heaven" is the same (himmelen), so every time i did the finger pointing, people used to say "poor thing" and pat me on the head with a sad look upon their faces.

I was 5 years old when my 96 year old great grandmother died. As my mom was trying to explain this to me, I remember asking her "If they scooped her bones off the floor." For some reason I thought that when you die, you are always in bed, and you instantly turn into a skeleton, and your bones fall to the floor! My mom had a tough time with that one!

I had a cat named Rajaa (like in Aladdin) whom I loved with all my heart, dispite the scars and scratch marks on my body. My mother and I are not religious and very open so naturally when my cat died she told me she had sent him to a nice lesbian couple on a ranch. I believed that until I was 13 and I am now 15. For years I always laughed at the picture of the things my poor kitty would see.

When I was young my sister told me that I wasn't allowed to breathe when passing graveyards because it would be "breathing and breath of death."

I was told that if you touched a dead person they would reach out and grab you. It wasn't until I was a teenage that I realized it wasn't true, but I still don't want to test it.

I used to believe that 82 was the highest possible age for people, that if you hadn't already died, you would surely die when you were 82. This is because my great grandmother died at 82. I never concidered the fact that I had another great grandmother, still alive at 96.
I also believed that my grandfather died (at 59, when I was three) because he ate too much chopped liver.

I used to believe that you lived forever unless you got sick or were killed. It was quite a shock when I realized that you died anyway. That's when I first heard about a soul, and was told that wouldn't die. But I didn't buy the soul thing until much, much later.
